When Allens invented the Chico they knew they were onto something pretty extraordinary. Candy Bar Sydney would loved to have been at the elevator pitch. Allens already had a huge range of bulk lollies in its collection, but somehow they knew that these babies would set the world on fire. After all, they're gooey, chewy, jelly.like, and full of chocolatey cocoa the same time - the flavour of a Chico is truly unique.
Oh how the marketing team would have enthused. How the hearts of every Allens company executive would have beat rapidly in their chests on the day Chicos were released into the range, waiting for Australia to react with the same enthusiasm and passion for the product. Well they needn't have worried. Not only did the country go mad for Chicos, they passed their enthusiasm onto the next generation, and the one after that. Chicos became an institution.
