In a small Italian town called Alba, a humble pastry chef named Pietro Ferrero experimented with a Ferrero chocolate spread in the 1940’s and famously decided to throw in some hazelnuts as a cost cutting measure. The result was explosive: Pasta Gianduja, or Nutella as we now know it, was born and later refined into its current spreadable form. After World War II, Nutella surged in popularity and nowadays, Ferrero is responsible for 25% of the world’s hazelnut consumption. No mean feat! The company never looked back, being passed on from generation to generation. Michele Ferrero succeeded Pietro and Giovanni Ferrero, and then in turn Michele’s son Giovanni took over the reigns. Ferrero has enjoyed one success after the other with its delicious bulk confectionery products, all the while maintaining a careful secrecy, safeguarded against industrial espionage by refusing media visits and avoiding press conferences. Nutella might have put Ferrero on the map, but the company moved from strength to strength with the introduction of such classic treasures as the Kinder line (Kinder Surprise, Happy Hippo, Kinder Bueno, etc), Giotto, Mon Cheri, Ferrero Rocher, Raffaello, Hanuta wafers, Gran Soleil, and of course, the humble Tic Tac. We all remember taking our first bite into a Ferrero Rocher chocolate or a creamy white coconut Raffaello. These quality chocolates are like flavour and texture explosions - creamy, crunchy, nutty, and crispy all at the same time. They’re celebrated at work parties and weddings, birthdays and brunches - whatever the occasion, a box of Ferrero chocolate never goes astray. Confetteria Raffaello are particularly popular on white wedding candy buffets. Now who doesn’t store a handy box of Tic Tacs in their car or in the third drawer down at work? Tic Tacs appeared on the confectionery scene in the late 1960’s, pocket rocket breath mints in a cute little container. They took the world by storm thanks to their tiny little size and immense fresh mint flavour. Today, they’re out there in a multitude of flavours and colours. At our Sydney lolly warehouse, we’ve got them in Tropical, Strawberry Fields, Spearmint Twist, Fruit Adventure, and the classic Orange and Peppermint varieties.
